Casas Massapez

Casas Massapez are two typical Madeiran cottages in rural Arco da Calheta that own wonderful views of the surrounding fields all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. Nearby is Rabaçal, known to many as a hiker´s paradise.

General Information:

The two traditional Maderian cottages of Casas Massapez where built in 1920 by the Freitas family. During renovations, great emphasis was placed in preserving all the traditional methods and materials of construction. In both houses you will encounter objects that reminisce a rural past such as wagon wheels, wine barrels, sewing machines, and, even rural life articles were integrated into the houses. You may reach both houses through a 500m long footpath long the banana fields as there is no direct car access.

Facilities:

The "Casa"cottage consists of two floors, a terrace and a lovely garden with a brick barbecue. On the ground floor is a spacious living, dining room and open concept kitchen. On the first floor are two bedrooms (1double bed , 1 single bed) and a bathroom.

The "Palheiro" cottage also consists of two floors and has a covered patio and a lawn. The ground floor has a bathrooms, a beautiful dining room and an open concept kitchen. A bedroom is located upstairs under a sloping roof.

The kitchens in both houses are equipped with hobs, refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave.

Location:

These two holiday houses are located in Calheta, in southwest Madeira Island at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level. Calheta Village,  the sandy beach, the marina and the Rabaçal hiking trail are just a few minutes away. Further information on Calheta...
