... a hiker and nature lover´s dream come true!

The Paul da Serra plateau, a popular hiking/walking destination, is the most ample (approx.20m2) and flattest location in the entire island, located in the central-west of Madeira between an approximate altitude of 1300-1500 meters. This altitude permits a fabulous view over lush green mountains and valleys. On days of excellent weather you may even be able to see the ocean on both the north and south coasts.

Fantastic views...

The highest point of Paul da Serra is the Pico Ruivo (1640m). Walking up Pico Ruivo you may enjoy and admire a fantastic view of the entire plateau.

Paul da Serra is also the place where many levadas and other trails connect through the Laurissilva forest. The Risco Waterfall and 25 Natural Springs Levada are two popular levadas that start at Paul da Serra.

This elevated plateau has some steep slopes on one or more sides, so extra caution is needed. Aside from being a popular tourist attraction, Paul da Serra, due to the extensive amount of rain it receives per year combined with the topography and permeability of its soil and rocks makes it a large water reservoir for Madeira Island.
